Minato Namikaze refused to let Konoha fall. Utilizing his mastery of space-time ninjutsu, he teleported the tailed beast away from population centers to minimize civilian casualties. Realizing force alone could not stop the Nine-Tails' rage, Minato chose to split its chakra: sealing the Yin half within himself for the Reaper Death Seal, and the Yang half into his newborn son, Naruto.
